Following undergrad, she attended and graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law. While in law school, she worked as a law clerk at a general practice firm. After that, she externed at the Washington County Department of Human Services, Office of Chief Counsel and the Washington County Prosecutor's Office. She was also a Rule XV student in the school's Criminal Defense Clinic and assisted in a Federal Civil Rights jury trial, where the team obtained a favorable ruling for the client. In her last year of law school, Katie helped create the U of A Delta Initiative, and through that, she hosted a record sealing clinic in Osceola alongside other community leaders.

Katie had to slow down after having her first child only a month after passing the bar exam in September 2022. She returned to the legal field in February 2023, where she worked primarily in family law, handling divorces, child custody, order of protection hearings, and guardianships. She obtained her domestic relations attorney ad litem certification in September of 2023. Katie currently serves as a Deputy Public Defender but is excited to give back to Northeast Arkansas by providing exceptional legal representation through private practice as well.
